A unique combination of properties gives NOMEX® superior charaxteristics NOMEX® is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer that has the following superior
(1) High inherent dielectiec strength, short-term electrical stresses of 18 to 40KV/mm
(2) Densified NOMEX® products are strong, resilient, and flexible, with good resistance to tearing and abrasion;
(3)High thermal stability, product properties to be maintained for at least 10 years of continuous exposure at 220;
(4) Good chemical compatibility, especially resistant to acid or alkali attack;
(5) Non-toxic, flame resistant, radiation resistant, moisture insensitive, good cryogenic capabilities .
NOMEX® insulation papers have 410,411,414,418,and 419 types.
NOMEX® pressboards have 992,993, and 994 types.

NOMEX® products have many applications in transformers of all types (Open ventilated dry type, cast coil type and liquid-filled type ): conductor warp, layer and barrier insulation coil end filler, section and case insulation, spacers and spacer sticks, In OVDT (Open Ventilated-Dry-Type) transformers, capacity, enhance safety, require less amount of conductor and core steel, and reduce size, weight,and cost. One major advantage of NOMEX® OVDT transformers is to be used inside bulidings.
NOMEX® products also have many applications in motors and generators: conductor warp, coil warp and interleaving slot liners, phase insulation, End-lams, etc. These applications increase reliability and extend life for all kinds of rotating equipment from AC/DC to random and formwound, including 13.6KV industrial drives and 150MW steam-turbine generators.
